Leadership Foundations

Leadership Foundations

The Leadership Foundations network fuels transformation in cities around the world through deep and lasting relationships. Our growing global network works in cities around the world in places as diverse as Delhi, India and Dallas, Texas. And now Albuquerque, NM, Detroit, MI and Northeast Ohio!

We are excited to welcome these organizations who are developing contextual approaches to address the greatest needs facing their cities.

Community 54:13, Leadership Foundation of Albuquerque

Community 54:13 seeks to meet the immediate and long-term physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental needs of the community of Albuquerque, New Mexico by providing safe and quality programming that supports families through relational experiences. Community 54:13 is currently focused on the youth of Albuquerque and has launched the Children’s Promise Center. Led by Rachel Davis, they are planning to open a leadership center in the International District of Albuquerque and continue networking ministries to address poverty in their city.

Detroit Leadership Foundation

Detroit Leadership Foundation exists to equip leaders and empower underserved communities for the spiritual and social renewal of the city of Detroit. They are applying LF’s Wheel Of Change across the city by building the capacity of other organizations, mobilizing Detroit’s faith community, and programming with partners to support the youth of their city through mentoring and education.

Northeast Ohio Leadership Foundation

NEO LF is developing, connecting, and uniting leaders across cultural boundaries to transform their communities and advance the Kingdom. We are pleased to have NEO LF as part of the 2nd cohort of Charity To Change, an LF initiative to reimagine how congregations can invest in long-term, systemic community change.

What book, movie, quote, or tv show has most shaped your understanding of leadership or the city?

A quote that has shaped my understanding of leadership and the city is, “Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justly now, love mercy now, walk humbly now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.”

While the amount of work there is to do to transform cities is great, this quote reminds me that we are freed from having to complete it all, though our obligation to continue remains. We may never see a huge transformation in our lifetime. The work stretches far beyond us. However, this does not make our acts of faithfulness in the day to day less significant, no matter how small they may seem.
