Leadership Foundations

The Center for Community Transformation, Leadership Foundation of Fresno, believes that enterprise can be the spark for widespread social change for their city and county.

On June 16th, 2022 they held their ninth annual SparkTank event, a pitch fest where local microbusiness and social entrepreneurs competed to receive $25,000 in start-up capital. This year over 200 individuals were in attendance!

Since 2012, the Center for Community Transformation, has developed a unique training and coaching process for local entrepreneurs that has successfully launched more than 50 social enterprises and 70 microbusinesses.

Through their deep commitments to serving the overlooked and underserved throughout the San Joaquin Valley, the Center for Community Transformation is leveraging the power of private enterprise and the creativity of local entrepreneurs to make their city, county, and region a more vibrant and thriving place.

It's a privilege to work with people so eager to learn how to engage their communities in transformative ways.

What book, movie, quote, or tv show has most shaped your understanding of leadership or the city?

A quote that has shaped my understanding of leadership and the city is, “Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justly now, love mercy now, walk humbly now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.”

While the amount of work there is to do to transform cities is great, this quote reminds me that we are freed from having to complete it all, though our obligation to continue remains. We may never see a huge transformation in our lifetime. The work stretches far beyond us. However, this does not make our acts of faithfulness in the day to day less significant, no matter how small they may seem.
