Socio-Spiritual Urban Transformation
Social & Spiritual renewal is possible in cities.
The nations are migrating to cities.
One hundred years ago, 5 percent of Americans lived in cities; now more than 80 percent are urban dwellers. 3.3 billion of the 6 billion people on earth live in cities. Cities are the new door through which the world becomes either a place of peace and prosperity, or a place of violence and despair. Despite their impediments and deficiencies, urban cities are still the primary vestibule of promise and potential to become “beloved communities”, as described by Dr. Martin Luther King. Within one city you will find a global representation of ethnic diversity, language, travel and trade. This is enhanced by a strong, growing movement among people of good will and good faith joining forces to take seriously Christ’s call. The call is clear: To heal broken lives and hearts so that healthy people are living in healthy places.
